We solve workplace problems, manage delivery and develop systems that fit the work. This nomination and voting application shows our approach in practice.

Our systems development capability

From a workplace problem to a working system.

Our team at OH&S Systems Management Australia defines requirements, designs workflows, manages development and coordinates testing and rollout. We bring problem solving, project management and systems creation together.

The election application below is one example. Our service is developing useful systems for workplace processes, with the tools and approach chosen to suit the problem.

The workplace requirement

A way for the work group to nominate candidates and vote.

A remote, rostered work group needed an accessible election process. Workers needed to put forward candidates for a health and safety representative role, nominees needed to accept or decline, and the work group needed a way to vote.

Our team at OH&S Systems Management Australia brought these stages together in a browser-based application. Workers could open a web link on a phone or computer.

What we built.

01

Nominations

A work-group eligibility stage followed by a nomination process, allowing workers to put forward a candidate.

02

Candidate consent

A separate acceptance or decline step. A nomination alone does not mean the person has agreed to stand.

03

Voting and records

A web-based ballot for the candidate election, supported by records of voter eligibility, nominations, candidate status and ballot activity.

How we delivered it

WHS process knowledge, existing cloud tools and AI assistance.

We defined the requirements, mapped the election stages, built and tested the application, and coordinated its rollout. AI assisted the development process; our team supplied the workplace context and made the implementation decisions.

We used Google Apps Script for the application, Google Sheets for the election register and Netlify for the web entry point. This gave workers browser access without developing a separate native phone app.

What was achieved

A working digital route from nomination to voting.

We delivered a web link workers could use to nominate and vote, a response process for nominees, and a register to support election administration. A read-only review confirmed that the application entry point was live and the register contained nomination, candidate and ballot activity.

We found the approach cost-effective and straightforward to implement using existing cloud tools.

This is our implementation assessment. We have not yet measured total delivery cost, administration time saved or changes in participation, so we do not present estimated savings as proven results.

What we are improving next

Our review identified follow-up work: reconcile the final election records, align the application’s status messages with the election stage, and independently review access and voting controls. We are keeping these checks separate from claims about a certified election outcome.
